Turret is a historic mining town located about 13 miles north of Salida, CO. Today the town consists of summer cabins, a few hardy year round residents and several lots for sale. It’s a beautiful area surrounded by National Forest and Brown’s Canyon National Monument with large granite outcroppings, many trails and 4WD roads and even a trail to the Arkansas River. No electricity is available but most cabins have solar (photovoltaic) electric systems with generator back-up. These allow for a pretty normal home with the exception that the refrigerator is powered by propane rather than electricity. Internet and TV service is available, and most homes are on well and septic systems although some homes have cisterns and get water from the community well. The road is maintained by the County year-round, but you need 4WD to get there in the winter. While it’s only 13 miles, it is all dirt and takes about 30 minutes from Salida. There are currently several homes, cabins and land parcels for sale in Turret, CO. Below you’ll find all of these as well as a map showing the location of Turret. Please contact Mike Hawley at 719-530-1281 if you have any questions or would like to see any of these homes.
